Classless Society V\s Ram Rajya!

On one extreme is the current ruling party at the centre aiming for a cashless society straining every sinew at its command in that direction. Digit by digit, it is prompting us to go digital which they claim is the way to ‘ache din’ – a metaphorical ‘Ramarajya’.
On the other extreme is another ideology hoping to see the dawn of a classless society. It has ‘left’ no stone unturned with its committed workforce in its attempt to achieve it.
Ours is a democracy. The ‘left’ party is trying to achieve ‘classless’ society in a democratic way. The ‘right’ wingers are alleged – not without reason – to be treading a ‘dictatorial’ path to attain ‘Ramarajya’. Recognize the irony?
Each party is charging the other of ‘mass massacre’ – of principles, that is. The ‘left’ claims that the ‘right’ has no right to be in the government with their faulty policies. The ‘right’, with a wry smile, retorts that the people have ‘left’ the ‘left’ high and dry, citing their fall not just here but elsewhere in the world.
As if the verbal war wasn’t enough, we find ourselves faced with another war – corona virus – adding to the already ‘bloodied battleground’. COVID – 19 has shook the world like nothing else has ever done before. The virus has united the world like never before in their efforts to limit and survive the tragedy. Isn’t it a tragedy that a tragedy should be uniting us?
Even in these scary moments, even as every soul on earth is looking for some ray of hope, there are some who seize the tragic moment to ‘mock’, ‘deride’ the measures of the government and try to derive political mileage with their nauseating posts in social media. A post depicting migrants return in search of ‘Ramrajya’ to mock the decision to telecast ‘Ramayana’ during lockdown is an absolute shocker.
We need to heed what the Wuhan governor says in his message which has become ‘viral’ on how China was able to contain the ‘corona virus’. ‘Total lock down’, ‘social distancing’, ’shunning political differences’ are the ways to win the war against the corona virus, says the Wuhan governor. Recognize the emphasis he lays on ‘shunning political differences’. He is ‘dead right’ (pun unintended)! ‘Jaan hai toh, jahaan hai’ is a compelling quote.
Let’s shun political differences and save the vituperative and distasteful posts for another day. ‘Détente’ until we win the corona war. We must realize that we need to win this war before we even think of attaining a society which is either ‘cashless’ or ‘classless’!
P.S.: The day we attain ‘classless society’, rest assured we would be witness to ‘Ramrajya’!! (Classic case of two parallel lines meeting - the twain shall never meet)
